The Vidarbha Youth Welfare Society’s College of Engineering, Badnera, was established under the able chairmanship of Late Prof. Ram Meghe in 1983 for providing education in the field of Engineering and Technology. It is located on National Highway No. 6, in the city of Amravati. Amravati, the capital of Indra in mythology, is a well-known education center in Maharashtra.

The College campus sprawls over an area of nearly 40 acres of land. The surroundings are serene & peaceful & the atmosphere is conducive to studies.  The student population in the college has increased from 198 in 1983 to 1600 in 2003.  Today the Institute can boast of very good infrastructure along with experienced and well-qualified staff in all the departments.  There are two hostels for boys in the campus & a girls’ hostel in Amravati.  There are facilities for games and sports.  The Library allows direct access to the students for twelve hours a day and offers all the facilities including photo copying.  

The method of instruction aims at developing the students’ initiative and ability to deal with new situations with confidence and judgment.  The program of instruction includes, in addition to formal lecturers, an even load of practical training and fieldwork and adequate provisions of seminars, home assignments and guided studies to promote the habit of independent thinking.

The first ever supercomputer anywhere in Vidarbha (PARAM) was installed in the college in 1996. The college was the first private engineering college in Maharashtra to get permission for starting post graduation program in 1997.  All the departments in the college are internally connected through a computer network (LAN).  The college has lease line connectivity as well and each department has Internet terminals.
